Jay says, "I'm still in the stone age when it comes to computers, but I am glad that the internet is here, it sure BEATS the day of the old fan club!"

Question: Do you have any special memories from the Osmondmania days?
Jay: It's hard to pinpoint any particular memory because they were all so positive. The ones that come to mind the most...the Earl Court concert in England, the Madison Square concert in New York, Memphis when the hotel caught on fire, Los Angeles Forum, Anehiem Stadium, BYU Mariott Center...and the list goes on. The hard times were all the traveling, the fun times were the concerts.
Question: Did you enjoy the reunion in England?
Jay: That was very positive for me, it brought back so many memories, and it was neat to see how many people have stayed with us throughout the years. I look forward to going back.
Question: Which do you prefer to perform, rock or country. And, by the way, "My Drum," "Topsy," and "Wipe Out" are amazing, please do more!
Jay: Thank you very much. I'm not planning at this point to do another drum album, but I'm writing a song called "The Jay Walk," and it is pretty wild. I may release it later on. I really prefer rock and roll over country.

Question: When you went to school did you get a degree, and what was it in?
Jay: I'm 20 credits away from my degree in Speech Communications at BYU.
Question: Which was your favorite song the brothers performed live in the 70's?
Jay: "Some Kind of Wonderful" was the most exciting song to sing live because I was on a cherry picker when my drums would rise 30 feet into the air, and I had high anxiety about that!

Question: Are you going to do another solo album? What songs do you sing lead other than "Crazy Horses?" Thank you also for the wonderful Gospel CD, my favorite is "The Anchor Holds!"
Jay: No, I won't be doing another solo album. The other song I sing lead is "One Way Ticket" on "The Plan." And I sing "Oh Happy Day" on the Gospel CD.
Question: Just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful influence you and your family have had in my life...the spirit is always so strong in the presence of you and your family.
Jay: Thank you for that nice comment, it always makes us feel good when somone has told us that we have had a positive influence in their lives. It makes it all worthwhile to me.
Question: Who influenced you first personally, then professionally?
Jay: Personally ~ Paul Dunn, Professionally ~ Paul McCartney.

Question: How does your family like Branson?
Jay: We love Branson, it is a great place to raise a family, to do what we do, and since there are so many entertainers here we blend in easily and have a normal life.
Question: What do you think about the boy bands today? Would you classify the Osmonds as being that kind of boy band in the 70's?
Jay: I think they are very good. We were told by our record company Polydor that they did research, and The Osmonds and Jackson 5 were considered the first boy bands, and that we started the whole thing. |
