Tid-Bits about
      Alan and Suzanne's Wedding Day
      As written by Olive Osmond
      Preparation for marriage.
Alan and Suzanne had to undergo a period of separation while Alan worked hard to co-produce and perform in their show at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. During their separation, Suzanne prepared for her wedding day with the same enthusiasm and excitement any prospective bride would have.

There were nightly phone calls from Alan's backstage dressing room at the Tropicana, where the Osmonds opened July 12. Time was getting short before the big day, and being away from Suzanne was one of the most difficult challenges Alan had ever been up against. "We were originally going to be married on August 3rd, but decided to move it up to July 16th so we could be together during our performances in Las Vegas," grinned Alan. "All I knew was that I loved her with all my heart, and I couldn't be without her at my side any longer."

Those days of waiting and anticipation finally came to an end. During the Osmonds' last show Monday night, just prior to the big day, Alan danced across the stage before his astonished brothers and delighted the audience singing, "I'm gettin' married in the morning ..." This brought the house down with applause, as everyone in the Superstar Room viewing the show knew all too well he wasn't kidding!

Those next few hours after the show were sleepless ones for Alan. Five thirty a.m. rolled around rather slowly that morning, but the entire family bounced out of bed to see Alan, Mother and Father, Merrill and Mary board their private twin-engine prop jet in Las Vegas bound for Provo -- where wedding bells were waiting to be rung!

      The Big Day!
At 8:15, Provo time, Wayne and the Tropicana pilot brought the plane to a smooth standstill. As the door opened, that cool mountain air filled the plane and everyone on it with a hearty "welcome home." Just moments later, a large dark blue car came onto the field. The back door opened before the car came to a complete stop, and out jumped Suzanne. It was like watching one of the greatest love stories ever told unfold before your very eyes as the two ran towards each other. Alan swept his future bride off her feet and . . . well . . . you can imagine the rest.

There was a cordial exchange of greetings between the Pinegars and the Osmonds -- new in-laws to-be. It was a happy gathering, to say the least. But of course, everyone's attention was turned upon the couple of the day, Alan and Suzanne.

The motorcade was eventually on its way through the Provo city streets. Grey clouds threatened the sun, but there was still plenty of shining between Alan's broad smile and Suzanne's bright blue eyes. To see them together again was truly a portrait of everlasting happiness.

Riding with Suzanne's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pinegar, they were the first to arrive at the Temple. There were plenty of relatives and special friends waiting there to greet them as their car pulled up to the main entrance and stopped. The time was now present when Alan and Suzanne would enter this Holy edifice to be sealed through marriage, as is tradition in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and belief, for time and all eternity. When they would come out of these beautiful glass iron-sculptured doors, they would be man and wife.

Like their mothers and fathers had once done, along with Virl and Chris, Tom and Lynn, and Merrill and Mary, it was now Alan and Suzanne's turn to kneel at the alter and speak the sacred vows which solemnized their marriage. Facing one another, they kissed across the altar. It was done. For them, only the beginning. The room was filled with fifty family members and close associates from both sides of the family, and tears of happiness were in abundance. The ceremony was spiritually uplifting, the words spoken: inspiring, and the message and advice given them at the altar was meaningful and refreshing to everyone present.

The ceremony lasted one hour and ten minutes. A small crowd of fans and newsmen had gathered outside the Temple. A family spokesman greeted them with the news that the new Mr. and Mrs. Alan Osmond would soon be out.

Shortly thereafter, the doors opened once again. Out came Mr. and Mrs. George Osmond, then Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Pinegar. There was a pause. This time the doors opened to reveal the beautiful bride in her elegant, floor-length wedding dress. Alan, dressed in a rich brown suit, expressed through his happy smile all the joy that accompanies every goom with his beautiful bride on his arm. "Ladies and Gentlemen," he announced, "I am proud to introduce you to the new Mrs. Alan Osmond."

With this, they were ushered to the beautifully landscaped grounds which surround the Temple. Here they would have their pictures taken with their families -- to record on film all the excitement and unforgetable memories the morning blessed them with in such abundance. But the picture-taking session and interviews would have to hurry along because there was a plane to catch for the new bride and groom, and two shows to put on that night in Las Vegas. It would be a work-type honeymoon, but at least now, they were together.

Once again at the airport, goodbyes were made. With a warm, tearful hug and kiss, Suzanne looked into her father's moistened eyes and whispered, "Daddy, I'm so happy ...I love you and Mother so much ... and I want you to know I love Alan with all my heart, too." With that, the famous family boarded their plane, the engines started, and once again, Alan was flying high.

This time he was returning to Las Vegas with the girl of his dreams. This trip, the plane had one more passenger!

      Quotes from the wedding day....
"I love Alan very much, and see him as 'Alan' and not just an 'Osmond,' " reported the beautiful new bride to news reporters as they emerged from the sacred Provo Temple after their mid-morning marriage. "I haven't been nervous for one minute. Just very excited to be with Alan once again -- this time for eternity."
