On the Personal Side....

What was your opinion about the Osmonds before and after seeing them perform?
Before, all I had heard was the music from the radio and a lot of that music was what they termed at that time as bubble-gum music. It was kind of cute, fun music. Then, after I saw them perform live and could see all of the talent; it's hard to put all that into a record. To see them play their instruments and dance and the wonderful harmonies that they did, I was very impressed with the talents they have.

Describe an average day in your life.
An average day starts very early. Our older boys have early morning Seminary and they leave the house between 6:30 and 6:45 every morning. The younger boys leave on their bus a little after 7:00. Then we have another son who is attending college that we get off. Then Alan and I work together in the office. Also, there are household responsibilities; keeping up with laundry, meals, shopping, and all those things. Then it's time for the shows. So, we're to the theater and back home for dinner and back to the theater again.

      Do you have any help?
I have a lot of boys that help! We used to live in a very large home and I had someone that came in and helped me there. But, where we're living now is smaller and something that we can maintain. Plus, the boys are older now and they take on a lot of responsibilities for helping out.

You've had eight boys and you still look terrific, what do you do?
Oh..Thanks....Well, I think it's important to eat right, get your rest. Avoid those things that can harm your body. Exercise whenever possible. That's something I really do need to work on more. I think with having all of these children, I'm running a lot. I'm running around and moving a lot. But, it's important to get that exercise in too.

You do so much for so many. What do you do for yourself?
My job is in my home and I find the most joy and satisfaction out of making a home. Taking care of my family is what I enjoy doing the most. When there is a little bit of peace and quiet time, I like to read. I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes and things like that, experimenting. I'm not a real crafty person but I enjoy them; I like to go to boutiques and craft fairs and enjoy the talents of others.

      What are your hobbies?
When you ask about hobbies I have to stop and think because I think that the things I do every day are basically my hobbies. I do like to play the piano. That's a time I just like to sit there and play and practice and try to keep that talent up. I used to ride horses and someday I think I'd like to get back into that. Our family has enjoyed some fun vacations at Lake Powell (Utah) on houseboats and jet skis and that's fun. Just being outside, out in the open, enjoying nature.
